FOR RETURNING STUDENTS: Please take a moment to try on your uniform BEFORE Wednesday, August 26:
*DO put on the WHOLE thing from your hat to your shoes and gauntlets. Check for missing buttons and small tears, and have those repaired promptly. We have spare buttons and parts in the closet. Make sure your overalls and jacket have a good enough fit to allow for bulkier items underneath as cold weather approaches. Ensure your shoes are clean.
*DO check the length of your pants. They should just touch the top of your shoes. You can make minor length adjustments by loosening the Velcro at the shoulder of the overalls.
*DO remember to get black socks, crew or knee length.
*DON’T forget the gloves. We have several free, used gloves at the closet, or you could get a new pair from us for $4.00 a pair.
* We also have a limited number of free, used pairs of shoes available.
IF YOU NEED A REFIT, HERE’S WHAT TO DO ASAP:
1. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible to schedule a time. Refits will be scheduled on Wednesday evenings: August 26, Sept 2, and Sept 9.
2. Come to the uniform closet for your scheduled appointment. Please be on time because there will be others who will need to be seen.
3. Meanwhile, get your old jacket and baldric (sash) dry cleaned. (We suggest Nick’s Dry Cleaners by the Reading depot). Wash the inner white collar piece by hand, and air dry. Wash the pants in cold water, line dry and warm iron using a pressing cloth if needed.
4. Return your clean, old uniform to one of the uniform committee members at the band room closet on a Wednesday at 5:45 pm. Your contract will be amended to reflect the changes.

The first RMHS BPO meeting of the school year is on Tuesday, August 18th at 7 pm in the Band Room. Information about this year’s show, upcoming events and your questions or concerns will be addressed. A typical meeting is approximately on hour. We hope to see you there!
Band camp for all marching band students is Monday, August 17th- Friday, August 21st
Camp is broken up into two sessions: Mornings-7:45am- noon and Evenings-4:45pm- 9:00pm. Students go home during the mid-day break for lunch and rest. Friday’s evening session is from 3:00pm- 6:00pm. Families are invited to a cookout and band performance at 5:00pm.
The students are treated to a pizza lunch on Wednesday and an ice cream sundae on Thursday. Pick-up time on those days will be between 12:30 and 1:00.

Themes for band camp week: Maui Monday– wear your best Hawaiian inspired gear, Twin Tuesday– pick a friend, dress alike. Can’t decide? Be triplets or quadruplets! Wacky Hat Wednesday– express yourself with a funky hat, Section Bonding Thursday– get together with your section (color guard, woodwind, upper brass, low brass, battery, front ensemble) to come up with a unique dress code, Class Day Friday– freshman, sophomore, junior, senior- it’s a class thing.

DURING BAND CAMP WEEK, STARTING MONDAY AUGUST 17, STUDENTS WILL BE INDIVIDUALLY FITTED WITH A BPO-PROVIDED MARCHING BAND UNIFORM. THE UNIFORM IS ON LOAN TO STUDENTS WHILE THEY PARTICIPATE IN MARCHING BAND. AS STUDENTS GROW, THEY MAY NEED TO BE REFITTED. AN ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE MADE DURING BAND CAMP FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO WOULD LIKE A REFIT.
COLOR GUARD WILL BE MEASURED AND FIT AT A SEPARATE TIME
